This presentation will discuss the role of the DMV Investigators in New York State, the investigations they conduct, the safeguards in place to prevent fraud, and the resources and tools available to detect fraud.

Chief Investigator Putorti has been a criminal investigator for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, Division of Field Investigation since March 2003. Currently he is assigned as a Chief of all NY DMV's Metro New York City investigative units, to include the five boroughs of NYC, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. The Division of Field Investigation has a primary mission to detect and investigate fraudulent documentation and schemes that may be used to obtain legitimate licenses, registrations, titles, or may be used in the furtherance of other crimes as well as preventing the trafficking of stolen vehicles and major component parts.
